The Bear is more than just a normal theatre

The Bear Educational Theatre exists to motivate people who are learning languages. The theatre helps students to feel good about what they have already acheived and to believe in their ability to learn more. – David Fisher, director

The Bear Educational Theatre actively supports teachers and students of English. We run a number of drama-based projects which motivate students of English by giving them positive experiences with the English language.

Live theatre performances in schools – This is the main activity of the theatre. We have a repertoire of English language shows for students of all ages from 7 to 18. Our shows can be played directly in schools or in nearby theatres. Every year we play hundreds of shows to students across the Czech Republic, Poland, Austria, Slovakia and France.

Teaching Materials – Each play has special materials which enable teachers and students to study the themes and language of the plays, both before and after they see the shows.

Workshops – The Bear Educational Theatre offers a range of drama and improvisation workshops for students, teachers and companies.

ClassinAction youth theatre competition – Every year groups of students from all across Europe come to Prague to share their work in this inspiring youth theatre festival.

International Youth Theatre Project/ Summer Camp – In the summer of 2011 The Bear Educational Theatre will run a summer camp, where students will work personally with the theatre’s actors to produce a show in English.
